Free Kia executive defends name of SA-bound ‘Seltos’ small SUV Miami
- Location: Miami, Miami, Florida, USA
A Kia executive in Australia has defended the Seltos name handed to the Korean firm’s new small SUV, saying although nobody is “praising it highly”, it has “not proven to be offensive” either.
Before the reveal of the new model in June 2019, Kia explained the Seltos name was “inspired by Greek mythology and the legend of ‘Celtos’, the son of Hercules”.
Speaking to motoring.com.au, Roland Rivero, Kia Australia’s general manager of product, said the moniker slotted in neatly with badges applied to the rest of the firm’s SUV range.
